World's Most Viral Scooter- The Mini Segway

What is this exactly and how does it work?

If you have no idea about what a Mini Segway is, this article is going to help you understand the concept behind this innovative personal transportation device. This scooter resembles very much to a snowboard or a skateboard, the difference being that it is self balancing and it is the perfect electronic gift for kids. This means anyone can easily learn how to use it, as it doesn’t require a special technique like other such devices.

For making the Mini Segway go forward, all you have to do is lean forward. If you lean backward, the two wheel scooter is going to go on reverse. By pointing slightly downward with your left or right foot, you can make the handless scooter turn left or right.

Why are people going crazy about it?

it’s all Justin Bieber’s fault. It just looked so fun in his Instagrams. All it took was one Instagram of Kendall Jenner on the board for the Mini Segway to blow up.

If you’ve been paying attention, you’ve seen the scooter before. It’s sort of a phenomenon. Here is a (very) partial list of celebrities who have tweeted, Instagrammed, or YouTubed themselves riding one in the last couple of months: The Biebs himself, Chris Brown (who is just too good at it), Nick Jonas, Zedd, Soulja Boy, Kendall Jenner, JR Smith, Nicki Minaj, Wiz Khalifa, Nina Agdal, David Ortiz, Karim Benzema, and Skrillex. It’s been on the Tonight Show, and showed up at the NBA Finals.

Every time anyone uploads a video or picture of this scooter, the commenters all want to know two things: What’s that called, and where can I buy it?

That’s where it gets weird.

When and where did the Mini Segway first appear?

There is still no confirmation about the actual origin of this scooter but the first ever "prominent" scooter that appeared in the market was called the Smart S1. It debuted in August of 2014, with a goofy commercial that almost certainly isn’t meant to be goofy. It shows a man walking down the hallway, laden with heavy books and a heavy heart, before finally being saved by the smooth ride of the Smart S1. It’s like a bizarro take on a heartwarming Coke commercial.
